Typically this occurs when Word opens the
template for edit, rather than executing the template to create a
new document.
To force Word to execute the template you can:

problem can also occur if your system's Word security settings
do not allow you to execute templates. Security is a complex issue,
and we strongly suggest you speak to your IT Support representatives
before modifying any security settings on your systems.
The panel right is accessible from Word's menus
TOOLS; MACRO; SECURITY and under normal circumstances, a security
setting of HIGH or VERY HIGH will not allow your template to
execute.
