Oxfordshire Virtual Business Centre

Public internet site with SQL Server back-end

This international project is an example of an advanced web software integration and development project undertaken successfully, illustrating our world class development abilities.

The Oxfordshire Virtual Business Centre provides information on over 16,000 Oxfordshire businesses on a fee for service basis. An original site, which had been operational since 1997, was redeveloped by eWord Development to take advantage of Microsoft SQL server for improved performance and scalability.

Additional features improve the end-user experience, performance and site manageability including:

• advanced search mechanisms

• dynamic reporting demonstrations

• online company data request submittal

Development included strict compliance to the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) standards for web site visitors with a serious sight problem, and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibly Initiative (WAI) standards.

The project deliverables included comprehensive documentation & instruction on the function and ongoing maintenance of the site.

As the project progressed, time zone differences between Australia and Oxfordshire was leveraged to speed the delivery, with the project progressing 'over-night'. 

Another advantage for our UK customer was our ability to provide very aggressive pricing due to the favourable exchange rates differences between Australia and the UK, without compromising project quality.
